Batinah Treasures Forts Rustaq and Nakhl
A full-day tour, acquainting you with the fertile Batinah valley, including visits to the forts at Nakhl and Rustaq.
The first stop will be in the small coastal town of Barka, famous for its fish market and halwa (Omani sweets) factory. Then, proceed to Rustaq fort, once a residence of Imam Ahmed Ibn Said and, to this day, one of the best-known fortresses in Oman. After that, visit the local hot springs whose temperature is above 400C. Continue the trip on a twisting wadi-road between the mountains and arrive at Nakhl oasis. The name "Nakhl" means "palm tree" and not without a reason - more than 10,000 grow here! The fort at Nakhl, constructed on mountain ledges and towering over the oasis, is one of the most beautiful in Oman and very impressive. A panoramic view of the picturesque oasis and the village greets visitors to the top of the fort. There are more hot springs at Ath Thuwarah. A picnic at the base of the mountains will provide ample opportunity to view the local life. After a rest at the oasis, return to Muscat.
