After lunch, set out on a guided city tour of Salalah — a tropical paradise on the Arabian Sea, where coconut groves stretch along endless beaches and banana and papaya plantations extend for miles.
Visit the Salalah Museum to explore the rich history, culture, and traditions of the Dhofar region. Continue to the archaeological park, home to the ruins of an ancient port city that once flourished between the 7th and 14th centuries AD.
Next, stop at the gold souq and admire the Sultan’s Palace, a striking symbol of royal presence in the city. Browse the local traditional market, where you’ll find a variety of regional products, including frankincense and spices.

Day 2
Day 2
East & West Salalah (Full-Day Tour) (HB / lunch)
In the morning, depart on a full-day excursion through the diverse landscapes of Dhofar Governorate.
Begin with a visit to the historic Taqah Fort, located in a picturesque coastal village. Continue to Khor Rouri – Sumhuram, an ancient port settlement believed to house the ruins of the Queen of Sheba’s palace, built in the 1st century AD. This former trading hub maintained maritime connections with the Far East, Egypt, and Greece.
Nearby lies Mirbat, the former capital of Dhofar and a major center of frankincense trade in the 9th century, also known for its Arabian horses and slave markets. Here you’ll visit the Mausoleum of Prophet Bin Ali, notable for its unique twin-domed structure.
Lunch will be provided as a lunch box or served at a local café.
On the return journey, make a stop at the lush Ayn Razat Gardens.
In the afternoon, explore the western coast of Salalah, stopping at Mughsail Beach, famous for its dramatic blowholes, where seawater erupts through holes in the porous rock. You may even spot flamingos in the lagoons. Beyond the beach, the road winds through mountains toward the Yemeni border, passing wild, untouched coastline and hillsides where the frankincense tree still grows — once considered more valuable than gold.
Return to Salalah by evening.
Overnight at Crowne Plaza Salalah 5* (or similar).
Day 3
Day 3
Rub' al Khali & Ubar (HB / lunch)
In the morning, depart on an off-road jeep expedition into the Rub' al Khali desert — the famed Empty Quarter — to explore the lost city of Ubar.
In 1992, a U.S. satellite detected traces of a buried settlement beneath the sands of the Rub' al Khali. Initial findings suggested this was the legendary city of Iram, noted for its towering pillars and high walls, and mentioned in the Qur'an. The site became the subject of extensive archaeological research. Pottery shards and glassware found here were dated to around the 1st century BCE. It is believed the city was swallowed by the desert following what was considered a minor earthquake.
Lunch will be provided as a lunch box or at a local café.
On the way back, stop at Wadi Dawkah, a protected UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the key frankincense-growing areas in Oman. Here you can see the hardy, ancient trees that once made this region one of the richest in the ancient world.
Return to Salalah in the evening.
