Day 5
Nizwa – Jabrin – Bahla – Hamra – Misfat al Abreen – Tanuf – Jabel Akhdar
After breakfast at the hotel, you will proceed for a visit to Jabrin castle. This exquisite palace was constructed circa 1670 during the peaceful and prosperous Al-Ya'aruba dynasty. Bilarab bin Sultan erected the splendid palace of Jabrin in the middle of a wide inland plain. Bilarab, who was known as a benefactor to poets and scholars, endowed Jabrin with a madrasa (school). Later, you will continue your drive with en-route stop in Bahla - the centre for pottery manufacturing and famous as the location of the greatest fortress in Oman. The ancient ruins of Bahla are included in the World Heritage List.
In the village of Hamra you will visit the Beit Al Safah museum. It is an old Omani house where you can watch traditional making of bread, oil, coffee, etc. Later proceed to the small mountain village Misfat-al-Abrin. It is one of the most picturesque mountain villages in Oman, which’s houses cling to the rocks over the palm oasis. Then you will stop at the ruins in Tanuf village located in a secluded gorge of Wadi Tanuf. In the evening you will arrive to the Saiq plato on top of Jabel Akhdar mountains.
